My buck ran with my does all summer and this last august a lot of activity started that was not usual activity for the wild bunch. Then Jack just left them didn’t care where they went just went his own way until my Holstein freshened then he became a bull, and has spent the last several months with the cows. When it started to become quite cold We wrangled him back to the barn to spend the winter with the does and he freaked for a day or so, now he just hangs but not buddy buddy with them is this another sign they are bred or do I have a very confused buck?
How can you tell when your goat is in heat.I don’t have a Billy, I’m planning on renting one
Here’s one of Meghan’s articles for telling if your goat is in heat: https://theorganicgoatlady.com/10-signs-dairy-goat-heat/
One way I have done is to scratch above their tail head and they will be much more friendly than usual
I have a doe, third time freshening with me, fourth time altogether. This has been the strangest year. She had the buck Sept. and November both, and seems to come into a raging heat every cycle. She has a yearling with her that I didn’t breed, so cycles regularly, and some have suggested this may be causing her craziness. I hope to see babies Feb. 14, but am so confused. Don’t want to miss the window for breeding. I rent a buck also.
Please how can I know if my goat is in her heat period?
Thanks very much. I have two goats, one doe and one Billy; Not sure of the breed but about Knee high.
Never having goats before I’m planning on breeding one time, this has been very helpful.
